Meet the Team: Ethan

None of what is happening at Bloom would be possible without the incredible team behind it. With our Meet the Team Series, we will be introducing the individuals who are working hard to make all of this possible.

Now, meet our ever-helpful Onboarding Specialist, Ethan! Ethan portrait

Where were you born and raised?
Central coast, California.

What do you love most about the Central Coast?
The location is really nice for a lot of different activities. There are tons of beautiful places to explore and I am within a day's trip to both go snowboarding in the winter and surf warmer waters in the summer. Weather is always nice here too, which is a plus!

What is your role at Bloom?
I am Bloom’s Onboarding Specialist. I focus on helping clients get their Shopify sites setup. I often meet with clients and help get all the needed information to get their sight up and running as soon as possible.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I specifically remember being asked this question as a little kid and for some reason, my answer was an anchor maker. I have no idea why, I didn’t even like boats as a kid. The first real job that I wanted was to be a chef. I even considered going to culinary school but eventually decided against it. (Being a chef is hard!)

Whom in the world would you most like to share a meal with?
Oooh, who are we talking about here? Alive? Dead? Fictional? I’ll answer each. For people alive now, I would probably go with Jack Black. That seems like it would be a pretty memorable meal. For the dead, avoiding the cliche answers (Jesus, Gandhi, dead relatives, etc.) I would probably go with Genghis Khan. I want to know what led that guy to conquer the whole world. Assuming he wouldn’t stab me with the steak knife. And lastly, for fictional characters, I would go with Iroh from Avatar the Last Airbender. Just a simple cup of tea and a nice conversation would be amazing.

Who has inspired you most in your career?
My father. He has done well in his businesses and I would love to one day be able to say the same.

What would people be surprised to know about you?
I own a small herd of southdown babydoll sheep. If you don't know what those are please look it up, you will not regret it.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
The best piece of advice I’ve been given is that if I want to change the world around me I must first change myself. How I think affects what I do, and subsequently changes the world around me.

How do you define success?
I consider a person to be successful if they are healthy in all aspects of their life. You could have all the money in the world and still be unhappy. I would consider myself a successful person if I could make the lives of others better.

What, or who, are you a “closet” fan of?
ABBA’s music SLAPS. Not even ashamed of it. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! is never not a bop.

If it was safe to travel and you had a plane ticket, leaving anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I would love to go to Japan. Both the countryside and the cities look like so much fun to explore. That or back to Costa Rica to be able to surf and not freeze to death.

OK quick answer!

Podcast or book? Book!

Texting or talking? Talking.

Invisibility or super strength? Super strength for sure.

Cake or pie? Pie please!

Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Fan of both, but lightsabers are undeniably cool.

Tea or coffee? I know I said coffee earlier, but I most often drink tea.

Ocean or mountains? Surf more than I mountain bike, so.

Climb a mountain or jump from a plane? I would love to jump from a plane at least once in my life.

Ninjas or pirates? It’s a pirate's life for me.

Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster? Tiny elephant seems to come with the most perks.
